Quiz question types
The 7 question types, auto vs manual grading, and the two multiple-choice variants.
CourseGlade’s free plugin includes seven question types.
The seven types
| Type | Graded | Use for |
|---|---|---|
| Multiple Choice | Auto | Single or multiple correct answers |
| True / False | Auto | Quick recall checks |
| Fill in the Blank | Auto | Terminology and exact answers |
| Matching | Auto | Pairing concepts with definitions |
| Ordering | Auto | Sequences and processes |
| Short Answer | Manual | Brief free-text responses |
| Essay | Manual | Long-form reasoning |
Two multiple-choice modes
In the quiz builder, multiple choice appears as two options — Multiple Choice (“select all that apply”, checkboxes) and Single Choice (“select one”, radio buttons). They’re the same underlying type with different answer handling, so you pick the interaction that fits the question.
Auto vs manual grading
The five auto-graded types score instantly when a student submits. Short Answer and Essay need a human — they’re held for grading, where an instructor assigns points and leaves feedback. See Quizzes & grading.
